On Gamespy they were allowed to play it multiplayer at the Firaxis studio. They said on a small map they were able to play to conclusion in 90 minutes which is an enormous step forward over the past games. Who knows it might even bring back the strategy game once designers realize strategy and length don't have to go hand in hand.
The other impressive thing is that in every previous edition multi player was tacked on later. This time they sat down with it in mind. They also said that cultural warfare has been cleaned up a lot since III.
Of course we do that's a given. I've never played the civ games I just looked at the link and can so see myself becoming addicted. I rarely buy games like this simply because I know I would accidently get lost in them, lose my job because I'd forget to move. Then they would turn the electricity off and I'd be very sad.
Because of LiveJournal, I never dedicated an appropriate amount of time to Civ3. Anyway, I missed the animated advisors. They were the best. Especially the Elvis impersonator.
i hate corruption in civ3, that was why i didn't play it as much as i played civ2. i hated that it got so bad you really couldn't expand after a certian point.
I can't wait, for some reason. It's not like anything actually HAPPENS this year. 23 is an unimpressive year, except for the fact that I am still quite alive.
I'm looking forward to 25 because that's the year my car insurance company goes "oh, he's not dead yet? Fine, let's lower the rates" and I can finally afford a Tiburon.
Right now I could make car payments or insurance payments, but not both.
Happy birthday early!
