Half my condo is empty. All the kitchen cabinets and stove are in the hallway. It is rather weird.

I started this weekend really upset that things weren't getting done. I felt super behind. Turns out I should have been worried because my friends and family are awesome.

My list of to-do items is getting much smaller. I have some doors and a window to finish. After the floor is done, I have to put the lower cabinets back in place.

Actually, I think that is about it. The molding isn't done but that can be done when Zach & Henrietta are home again. Most of the baseboard is done, it just needs to be installed.

The bathroom is going to have to get finished in a few weeks. It is mostly easy contained tasks, so that is good.

The electrictions will be back in a couple weeks to put the fixtures in, which will be the point when I'll feel like this is "done".

I am so excited.

This weekend I got a good amount of work done.

I got the majority of the walls patched. I have a couple more layers to do over a really bad spot and a few holes that I didn't patch until yesterday. I am hoping to get them done tonight. I'll sand once my contacts get in because I don't want to damage my new glasses.

I bought a new toilet on Saturday (it was on sale!) and removed the old one. When I did that a bunch of tiles came up with the toilet, so I had to repair that before I could put the new one in. I got that done yesterday and grouted it last night, so I should also be able to get that done tonight.

I also removed the tile from our main shower window because I am overly ambitious. Also, I was pretty sure it was leaking and if I am going to repair it, I have to do it when Zach isn't around because I'll just take baths while it dries and he would be taking showers. The plan is to paint it tonight with a couple coats of oil based primer and then tile it with larger tile that would have less places to fail.

If that doesn't take up my entire night, I am going to spend some time scraping wallpaper off the one wall I didn't patch. There is nothing glamorous about wallpaper.

The ceiling dude starts tomorrow, which makes me really excited. Things are going to start looking good! Woo!!

The remodel has begun. This is half way through. I should have taken a "before" short but I forgot. Stay tune for progress shots. Also posts about how I miss my baby and how I am tempted to take a road trip across North Dakota in January to spend a day and a half with her.

I got three walls of the room painted, which is awesome. I overbought on paint, by a lot but that is okay, I am sure I'll find some use for it. I need to do some touch up on the ceiling because painting along a popcorn ceiling is tough. I also need to make the transition between each other to be cleaner.

I really want to paint the last wall but I am so tired. I have been painting all day. I went to the store, walked to the May Day parade, and walked around the park. Usually this wouldn't be too much for me but I guess I get tired faster than I used to. Plus, as Zach tells me, it isn't like the baby is coming tomorrow. I have time to finish this stuff up!

This week I want to get this done:
Second coat on the blue wall.
Both coats on red wall.
Ceiling paint touch ups.
Paint transition bits and top of half wall (white).

Next weekend I want to get the color transition spots redone, the baseboard cleaned up and painted. Also, we have an electrical panel in this room, I am thinking about painting that.

That would only leave some baseboard that needs to be added, new electrical outlets and switches, and steam cleaning the carpet!

I got the baby's room primed! I got the ceiling that needed paint, painted. We picked out colors for the walls so I could start buying paint and painting each wall one night this week! I might be able to paint some trim and do the clean up next weekend!

I am so excited to have made such progress! Painting is so much easier when you don't have to repair so much!!!

I won't post any pictures because it doesn't look different but last night Jens & Serinia came over to help me sand and patch the walls. We got everything we wanted done. I just have to put a second coat on a couple spots and sand them to be finished. Yay!

Tonight my plan is to do that and start the clean up. There is so much dust everywhere, even in our bedroom. However, it is spring cleaning season so I can combine the two.

Anyways, I am really happy with the progress. I am so looking forward to the more fun parts of the baby room like getting a crib and decorating. Yay baby!

I guess the hormonal feeling I have while pregnant? Crabby. I am sort of sick of myself. I am also sick of sanding walls. I think I might call in the Holmborg and see if we can knock out the rest of the walls in an hour or so. Well, other than the huge patch, though if I just get the right tools today that won't take long to get ready for sanding.

I am going to be so happy when we just have to prime and paint. I can't believe how bad these walls are, though I guess it doesn't make sense to make walls smooth if you are just going to hang cabinets or wallpaper on them. At least I already took the wallpaper off 8 years ago.

Our next house is going to require less work like this. I don't mind plaster, I just dont like wallpaper over plaster.

What I have left:
Patching big hole
Sanding patches
Dusting walls
Priming walls
Painting ceiling edge
Picking wall colors
Painting walls
Replacing electrical outlets
Reconfiguring cabinet innards
Steam cleaning carpet
Baby stuff!!!!

Painting and priming shouldn't be so hard and Zach should be able to help with that. He is going to do the electrical outlets because I hate electrical work.

Quilt Tops

A friend of mine gave me a box full of quilt tops that her grandma had done. They are all hand pieced and I am debating how I want to finish them. I could tie them, which would be quick and easy but I really don't like that look. I could machine quilt them but that sort of seems wrong, though would make them much more stable. Or I could hand quilt them.

I have never hand quilted anything. However, I like the look. If I did it lightly I bet it wouldn't take that long.

I guess another option is to machine quilt some of it and finish it off with hand stitching. That might be a good compromise.

BTW, I haven't quilting much at all in months. Morning sickness made me so tired I didn't want to do anything and once that was done I decided to spend my time working on the baby's room. I am hoping that this weekend I'll get the rest of the walls patched & primed so I can feel like I have made good progress. Next weekend my goal is to paint the room.

This is what the rooms looks like with the patching I had to do. I still have that hole to patch and a big chunk of plaster to completely replace. Nothing too hard.

Baby Room Prep Step 4: clean & prep any crack, patch with Durabond. Lots & lots of Durabond.

It is time to have a room Re-Org at our house. We already started on Monday by cleaning out the storage room, getting rid of a bunch of stuff and setting a bunch of stuff a side to sell at the next garage sale. Basically we have one storage room full of our stuff (and stuff for CVG & MarsCon) and the other one is ready for Eric's stuff. The next step is to bring all Eric's stuff from the closet in our condo down to the storage room. Once that is done we can get to the real work.

We are going to paint the walls, put carpet down and replace the light in the closet. Then all my fabric/sewing stuff is going to move into there. Once the fabric is moved then we can sell a chest of drawers and a wardrobe that is taking up a lot of space in the guest bedroom/man cave.

Once that is all done we are going to replace the twin bed with Zach's old futon and get a desk for that room. This means Zach will finally have a "man cave" where his computer can live (instead of on our coffee table). I am pretty sure my computer will also move in there because I don't really use it much anymore other than when I work from home.

I am pretty excited about this. Nothing in this list is too hard and it will be nice to have another room that we can actually use. I am also really looking forward to going through my farbic. I have a lot of projects to finish and it would be nice to have some sort of order to them.
