Tall baby

Aug. 4th, 2015 09:58 pm
We are hanging out with Zach's family, including our nephew that is 3 months old than Henrietta. Henrietta is at least an inch taller than him. He is actually on the tall side.

I never really realized how tall she was until now.

I feel awful. I have been dealing with a virus all week (at first I thought it was just morning sickness, then a migraine). Henrietta is also sick. We are both taking an easy Saturday where we might not even get dressed.

I have a car full of stuff I should move into the house, but the couch feels so much better.

Tonight I peeled an orange for my niece. Now I have hives on my thumb & finger. Sigh.
I miss quilting.

Henrietta is getting so big and is turning into a little person. She likes to read books, play on the ipad, play with her tractor and has started humming when she wants to sleep.

She loves to tickle people and for some reason thinks that ducks say "tickle tickle tickle".

She doesn't have many words yet but she is so close. I have a feeling she is going to just start talking one day and then she will never shut up.

Even on the days where she is crabby and overwhelming, I am pretty happy with her.

I am tipsy and have PMS.

Everything is making weepy.

Well... She is just like her mommy & daddy.

Henrietta is fully a toddler now. It is sort of sad, because she doesn't want to nurse anymore and I miss her being less independent but it is also nice that we don't have to watch her every moment of the day. You can let her play with her toys while you cook or hang up laundry, which is a nice break.

She loves to read books but she likes to go really fast through them. She loves grapes and blueberries. She really dislikes green beans.

Our separation didn't seem to phase her, which I think Skype had a lot to do with. She has been a little more clingy to me when I am around but she has always been a cuddly.

I am pretty happy with this baby, she is awesome.
Half my condo is empty. All the kitchen cabinets and stove are in the hallway. It is rather weird.

I started this weekend really upset that things weren't getting done. I felt super behind. Turns out I should have been worried because my friends and family are awesome.

My list of to-do items is getting much smaller. I have some doors and a window to finish. After the floor is done, I have to put the lower cabinets back in place.

Actually, I think that is about it. The molding isn't done but that can be done when Zach & Henrietta are home again. Most of the baseboard is done, it just needs to be installed.

The bathroom is going to have to get finished in a few weeks. It is mostly easy contained tasks, so that is good.

The electrictions will be back in a couple weeks to put the fixtures in, which will be the point when I'll feel like this is "done".

I am so excited.

Must keep going.

I am hoping I feel better tomorrow and I get a lot done.

Updated to add:I am sick of all the stuff I have to do and being an adult.

I have been getting non-migraine headaches all week. It is weird but I suppose not unexpected. The main problem is that it makes me not want to work on the house and I feel totally behind because not very much got done while I was gone.

Things I want to get done before Saturday morning:

1. Scrape and sand bathroom door
2. Remove the wallpaper from the one section of wall that still has some and patch
3. Patch along windows
4. Sand the molding around the living room window

Basically I want everything ready for the painting party on Saturday. Starting Monday the floor will be refinished, so I can't go in there for almost a week. Then Zach & Henrietta get home.

Seriously, I am close to panicking.
So, I was walking on a gravel road in front of Zach's parent's cabinets Zach's dad Evan while carrying Henrietta in an external frame pack on my back (this one)

We had already gone up the hill and were making our way back down to the cabin. I am still not sure why I lost my balance but I know that once I started to go down I could only think "don't fall backwards, Henrietta is there". So I threw my weight forward, I think in the act of doing that I put my head down and that is how I scraped up the top of my forehead. I landed on my right knee and hand, both of them are pretty beat up, then I rolled to my left side and tried to see if Henrietta was okay. She was and she actually thought it was fun.

Evan was there right away, he is an ER doctor, so he checked me out and carried Henrietta back to the cabin. After a quick look at my forehead, where he decide glue would be better than stitches, I jumped in the shower while he figured out if it made more sense to drive to Cody (40 minutes away but small) or back to Billings (2 hours away but where the hospital he works at is).

The shower was gross. Zach was in the bathroom and he helped pull a bunch of hair off of me. I lost handfuls of it. Also I was bleeding so much that it didn't matter if I washed my face or not.

After the shower, Zach got a bandaid on my knee and Evan put some steristrips on the wounds. Zach packed us up, Zach's mom gave me an ice pack and we started theong drive back to Billings. Zach's parents had to close up the cabin, so they were an hour behind us or so. However, there was an accident that stopped traffic for a couple hours on the highway, so they didn't get home until late.

Evan picked up some durabond, glued my face back together and told me I would get a couple black eyes, which he was right about.

Here is what the black eyes looked like this afternoon.

I rather like remodeling. There are a lot of things that is hard about it but when you have a room and time to dedicate to it, it is satisfying.
I made it 12 days before breaking down crying that I missed Henrietta. I don't know if that is something to be proud of or not. I mean, I decided to send her away and have kept myself really busy but what does it say that I was mostly okay that she was gone?

Okay, that isn't right, I wasn't okay hat she is gone, I just put it out of my mind. Tonight I could for some reason.

Tomorrow I have lots of things to do I the condo, mostly peeping moulding & doors and priming walls. Sunday I have a pretty packed day.

I leave for Billings in 12 days. So half way there.
bertine: (condo fun)
This weekend I got a good amount of work done.

I got the majority of the walls patched. I have a couple more layers to do over a really bad spot and a few holes that I didn't patch until yesterday. I am hoping to get them done tonight. I'll sand once my contacts get in because I don't want to damage my new glasses.

I bought a new toilet on Saturday (it was on sale!) and removed the old one. When I did that a bunch of tiles came up with the toilet, so I had to repair that before I could put the new one in. I got that done yesterday and grouted it last night, so I should also be able to get that done tonight.

I also removed the tile from our main shower window because I am overly ambitious. Also, I was pretty sure it was leaking and if I am going to repair it, I have to do it when Zach isn't around because I'll just take baths while it dries and he would be taking showers. The plan is to paint it tonight with a couple coats of oil based primer and then tile it with larger tile that would have less places to fail.

If that doesn't take up my entire night, I am going to spend some time scraping wallpaper off the one wall I didn't patch. There is nothing glamorous about wallpaper.

The ceiling dude starts tomorrow, which makes me really excited. Things are going to start looking good! Woo!!
I am a little weepy about Zach & Henrietta leaving tomorrow.

Then it will be 23 days before I see them again.

The remodel has begun. This is half way through. I should have taken a "before" short but I forgot. Stay tune for progress shots. Also posts about how I miss my baby and how I am tempted to take a road trip across North Dakota in January to spend a day and a half with her.

I am getting a cold. This is a terrible time for me to have a cold since we have so much to do in the next five days. Plus I want to spend as much time as I can with my baby.

Zach, who has moved much more than me, tells me that it won't take long to pack up the kitchen, which is the part that worries me the most. However, we also have to move all the cabinets by Monday, and that does worry me!

To Do List:

1. Change the direct deposit form so the money for the cleaners goes into the month bill paying account.

2. Email the cleaner about not coming in January.

3. Decide on which floor sanding place we are going to use. Pick some dates they will come.

4. Clean bathroom, remove crown molding, patch walls, fix tiles & molding.

5. Buy toilet for second bathroom and install.

6. Remove old window in office and install the new one.

7. Take apart the crib and store under the bed.

8. Move desk to where the crib is now.

9. Get Drivers License and Passport renewed.

10. Pick out new electrical fixtures for kitchen, dining room and living room.

11. Pick out paint color options.

12. Pack up kitchen and take it apart.

13. Remove bookshelf.

14. Store furniture.

15. Pack Henrietta up for her trip.
